WASHINGTON: President Barack Obama will make remarks on events in Egypt later Tuesday, a US official said, after President Hosni Mubarak said he would not seek reelection but declined to step down immediately.
National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said Obama would deliver remarks in the Grand Foyer of the White House following an 80-minute meeting on the Egyptian unrest with top national security aides.
Vietor said that Obama watched Mubarak's speech on television in the secure Situation Room of the White House with aides, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. [endtext]
